About Millie's Meats

Millie’s Meats was founded on a passion for farming, food, and hard work. My journey began at the age of 18 while studying agriculture at Brooksby College and working in a local farm shop. What started as a part-time role quickly developed into a strong interest in butchery and a clear direction for my future.

Over the past year, the business has grown significantly. What was once a one-person operation has developed into a dedicated team of four. I am incredibly proud of this growth and deeply grateful for the commitment and hard work of my team. Millie’s Meats would not be where it is today without them — Rose, Georgia, Imy, and Morgan.

I am a fourth-generation farmer, raised on the same land my great-grandparents farmed before me. Farming is deeply rooted in who I am. As a female farmer in a traditionally male-dominated industry, I have learned to balance respect for long-standing traditions with the confidence to embrace change. Each generation before me adapted to evolving markets and challenges, and I firmly believe that honouring the past while evolving is essential to securing a sustainable future.

To strengthen the long-term viability of our farm, we diversified by establishing an on-farm butchery. This enables us to take greater ownership of our product from field to fork, improve transparency, shorten supply chains, and showcase the very best of our own and locally sourced produce. The butchery represents more than a business investment — it is a commitment to resilience, innovation, and our local community.

My father and I continue to run our farm using traditional, extensive methods, with livestock reared on a grass-based, welfare-first system. Our cattle are never pushed for rapid growth; they are raised calmly, with space to move and minimal stress. This approach results in healthier animals and beef of exceptional flavour and quality — standards we are proud to uphold.
